Timbuk2 Bag

I'm calling for style suggestions!

http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/

I'm debating getting a new bag for work/everyday use.  But the timbuk2 brand has a million different style combinations and I can never seem to land on just one.  I know a number of you have had a bag from there at one point or another.  Does anyone have any recommendations or tips on picking a cool one?

Marathon and other exercise

I've decided to start training again for another marathon.  Which race? I have no clue. I figure I will try and get into a schedule that is on a "fast" track, so that I could be ready to go come October.  I'm thinking of either doing the Chicago marathon or some sort of destination one.  I have thrown out the idea of a family one over in Portland, but considering it lands on Meredith's birthday weekend, that has been repeatedly vetoed.

Training starts tomorrow. Now I just need to find a running schedule that works!

223

I dropped to 223 this morning. That's about 12 lbs. since June 19th.

Ugh, when I put out my garbage this morning I didn't feel a difference when I stepped out from my sticky, unairconditioned garage into the sticky, unairconditioned outdoors. My Weatherbug app says the humidity was almost 90% at 6am. Ugh!

Worked Like a Dog!

Well, we enjoyed another weekend at the cabin and a lot more work was done!  I bought a new pontoon cover and we picked that up on the way (Walmart ship-to-store - a pretty good deal).  We also stopped at Home Depot and picked up a patio door screen so we can open the patio door without letting in all the mosquitoes.

We got to the cabin by about 2:00 on Friday and I played with the deck blocks a little while Dave did some yardwork and worked on the pontoon cover, then we worked on the patio door and then we went fishing.  We trolled and I caught my first keeper walleye!  It was fun.  Dave caught a keeper northern and we snagged a couple other fish.  We had a huge bonfire and burned off weeks worth of yard waste and branches, etc.

By the end of the weekend, we had a new deck, caught more fish (note Dave's big northern below!), and worked like dogs.  We will have the roof redone and have a roof built over the old deck so we can screen that in soon.  Hopefully we will get that done soon.  Here are some pictures...

Dark Knight Rises

I went to the early Saturday matinee of The Dark Knight Rises...missing lunch with The Clan in the process. I must admit to being more wary of everybody who walked into the theater and noting where all of the exits were. The theater had new signs up stating that excessively loose clothing and backpacks and such would not be allowed.

To the movie...I liked it and thought that it was a fit ending to Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. There were spots where it seemed a little ponderous and I lost track of the motivating factors in the plot, but everything came together in the end, and I was more than satisfied.

One minor complaint is that it was difficult to hear significant bits of dialogue, particularly with the masked Bane character. It wasn't just the problem of the mask muffling the words, because there were other characters who were frequently drowned out by one thing or another. A minor complaint since I still got the gist of what was being said. Welcome to Tess'  (Tess's?) world.

I recommend the movie to anybody who enjoyed the first two.

225

I am now 225 lbs. That is a loss of almost 10 lbs. in the past four weeks. This past weekend I wore jeans I had to stop wearing five months ago.

Thank Guvment!

I am so thankful that the government set up Ken, MJ, and Gene in business in our basement 40 years ago. Otherwise, there would be no I&S.

Amerika

No, that is not a comment on the current state of our country. It was the name of Hitler's private train before we wascally Americans decided to get involved in WWII. Just another fun fact from my calendar.

As noted on Saturday's post, and judging from my loss of a full pound over the weekend, I think that I have stumbled upon a miracle diet:
  • Copious amounts of beer
  • Culver's Bacon Deluxe
  • Onion rings
  • All following a large breast of chicken w/skin
I don't know how it happened...the weigh loss. I know how the overeating happened.

Even after adding the calories burned on my walk Saturday morning, I ended up consuming at least twice the calories I was allotted for Saturday; and I still lost half a pound. I was more careful on Sunday, and I lost another half pound.

My current weight is 227.

Scale Surprise

I was already over my caloric limit yesterday before we continued drinking all that beer after lunch and I compounded that with a Culver's Bacon Deluxe and onion rings on the way home. I still weighed in a half lb. lighter this morning.
